"“I’m really grateful to the SBDC for helping me develop a clearer vision for the business. By reviewing my pitch deck and helping me create a 2026 vision board I’ve been able to articulate my goals and the steps to achieve them.” – Emily Lippe, Owner

Miss Lippe's Dumpling Party

Emily Lippe, founder of Miss Lippe’s Dumpling Party, came to the SBDC as a finalist in CSUMB’s annual Startup Challenge in 2022. She was competing in the Main Street Division of this pitch and business plan event and was hoping to win the Division and the associated $5,000 prize to help grow her business. Her mission is to “bring us back to our roots…make food feel accessible…and encourage people to support local businesses and farmers.” She wants to encourage healthy and balanced eating habits and uses her dumpling parties to get people to spend time together in a shared activity, put down their phones, use their hands and engage with the people around them.

Cal Coastal SBDC consultant worked with Emily on her business plan and fine tuning her pitch prior to the Startup Challenge finale. After the she won the Main Street Division of the 2022 Startup Challenge, her assigned SBDC consultant continued to work with her on strengthening her business plan and developing a growth strategy beyond the dumping parties to offering frozen dumplings as well as participating in pop-ups at various events and specialty stores. In addition to winning the $5,000 prize by winning the Main Street Division of the 2022 Startup Challenge, Miss Lippe’s Dumpling Party has tripled their revenue from 2021 to 2022.
